It’s Sally Jewell's experience and commitment that make her an ideal choice to direct the Department’s conservation agenda.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 11, 2013

Caroline Cunningham, President of the Trust for the National Mall, today issued the following statement on the Senate’s confirmation of Sally Jewell as Secretary of the Interior:

“The Trust for the National Mall congratulates Sally Jewell on her confirmation as Secretary of the Interior. Sally brings important perspective to her new role. As CEO of REI, she understands how to successfully lead large, complex organizations and is a leader in conservation. It’s that experience and commitment that make her an ideal choice to direct the Department’s conservation agenda.

“The National Mall is America’s most visited national park – in fact, more than half of all Americans will visit the National Mall in their lifetime. Over the past four years, we have worked closely with Secretary Salazar to implement the National Mall Plan, a comprehensive plan to restore and improve the park for present and future generations. We look forward to continuing this important work with Secretary Jewell, and wish her the best of luck in her new role.

“Secretary Salazar has been a steadfast friend of the National Mall and understands the importance of preserving this national treasure for present and future generations. Secretary Salazar’s leadership has been essential in our work to create a more beautiful, useful and sustainable National Mall. The Trust for the National Mall wishes him all the best in his future endeavors and thanks him for his extraordinary service to our country.”
