Competing against top deck builders from across the state, was the recipient of three first place awards in various categories. The NJ chapter of N.A.D.R.A. the National Deck and Railing Association sponsored the Deck Design Competition held this year in Woodbridge, NJ. The entry projects from took careful consideration and planning. They make practical functionality attractive. The designs are all meant to blend with the home as they expand the living area to the surrounding outdoors. As always, the completed projects were the result of innovative designs and passionate execution. They convey an imaginative use of both materials and craftsmanship with a strong emphasis on detail.                                                                        , also a National award winner, was again awarded the 2013 NJ Best Wood deck in two project size categories, under 250 and over 700 square foot. They were also awarded the NJ Best Alternative Deck under 250 square feet. “The projects from are the result of team work and inspire pride of accomplishment,” said Sean McAleer, President. The awards were accepted by Sean McAleer Designer, Chet Harrigan Project Manager and John Lintott, Frank Holmberg and Gary Quinn who lead their respective winning projects.

“NJ Best Wood Deck under 250 Sq. Ft.” This multi-level Brazilian Chestnut Abaco deck is designed utilizing a rounded theme finished with a curved fascia in the DeckRemodelers signature profile. A step down, also rounded, leads to the sunken hot tub that is made sheltered by a pergola privacy wall.

“The NJ Best Wood Deck over 700 Sq. Ft.” This project is built and finished with as much detail as the opulent hardwood moldings that are throughout the interior of this home. The multi–leveled deck was constructed in Ipe, accented with Deckorator estate balusters and has both dining and lounging entertainment areas conveniently located to the kitchen along with a bonus storage area under that blends perfectly with the deck as well as the landscape.

“NJ Best Alternative Deck under 250 Sq. Ft.” The third winning deck design provides elegant passage from the french doors of the home’s interior to the misaligned brick patio area below. The unique use of shape and angles maximizes the space and effective usefulness of the deck. Staff members contributing to the effort were all in attendance. The N.A.D.R.A competition was judged by Architects Jim O’Brien and Jeff Fleischer along with Jack McNaboe code enforcer Monroe Township. is a deck design and build company based in Sparta, New Jersey.
