Crossing the finish line at the NJ Marathon was quite an emotional experience and I cannot say that it is one I would have ever had if Push to Walk did not present the opportunity to me
Riverdale, NJ (PRWEB) April 11, 2013
Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Long Branch, NJ Team Push to Walk will race to show its support and dedication to the non-profit they represent. The team will consist of 23 people, including trainers, family, friends, members of the community, and 5 Push to Walk clients who will be using hand-cycles to participate. For two of the clients, this will be their first race and prior to training for this event had never been in a hand-cycle.
Each team member has committed to raising a $500 minimum goal for Push to Walk’s Client Scholarship Fund. Push to Walk workouts cost $85 per hour and are not covered by insurance. The scholarship fund helps clients who are financially in need continue to come to workouts without letting cost get in the way. There is a little less than a month until race day and the team has already raised over $22,000. The goal of $30,000 is within the team’s reach and will provide aid to those who need it most.
Push to Walk is able to cover about 65% of its operating costs through client fees, but relies on fundraising events to help make up the difference. “Our clients come to us because they see an improvement in their quality of life. We work hard to keep our fees affordable so cost doesn’t stand in the way of them achieving their goals,” explains Cynthia Templeton, President of Push to Walk.
Push to Walk uses exercise trainers certified in methods known to help people regain strength, function and independence and provide one-on-one workouts to their clients. The next closest facilities of this kind are located in Boston and North Carolina. “Crossing the finish line at the NJ Marathon was quite an emotional experience and I cannot say that it is one I would have ever had if Push to Walk did not present the opportunity to me,” said client Lois Hamilton.
