Winfree Schools Foundation Presents "A Carlin Home Companion"

“My dad’s childhood is similar to the stories I have heard about Winfree students stated Kelly Carlin, he was raised by a single mom, dropped out of high school - It wasn’t until someone saw the promise in him that his road to success began.”

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 15, 2013

In 1959 George Carlin began his career as a comedy team with Jack Burns when both were working here in DFW for KXOL in Fort Worth. This coming Thursday evening April 18th at the Irving Arts Center, Kelly Carlin, the only child of the iconoclastic comedian George Carlin, takes the audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions and pulls back the curtain on their life together off stage. Weaving her amusing yet poignant family stories, video and memorabilia, Kelly chronicles over forty years of her life with her father, Kelly warmly yet honestly reveals not only what it was like to be swept up by his life and career, but the struggles of their father/daughter relationship and ultimately what it took for Kelly to find her own place in the world.

“A Carlin Home Companion” is presented by Irving based Winfree Schools Foundation, benefitting Winfree Academy Charter Schools, an innovative public high school of choice with six Dallas area campuses.

“My father’s childhood is similar in many ways to the stories I have heard about Winfree Academy students stated Kelly Carlin, he was raised by a single mom, dropped out of high school - It wasn’t until someone saw the promise in him that his road to success began. And oddly enough, my father began his career over 50 years ago as disc jockey at KXOL. The opportunity to share A Carlin Home Companion with the good people here in the DFW area is a special honor. And the same time, being able to support the great work done at Winfree Schools and the mission of the Winfree Foundation – really hits home with me.”

“A Carlin Home Companion” plays this Thursday, April 18th at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30pm with complimentary wine, appetizers and a foundation raffle! Tickets are $35; limited VIP packages available at $65. Tickets available online and at the door. http://www.irvingartscenter.com/Performances/BuyTickets.aspx
