According to the Seacoast Online article, a study by Dr. Stanley Hazen of the Cleveland Clinic showed that carnitine, an amino acid found in meat products, is also a major factor in heart failure.
The article goes on to mention another study from Oxford University. After studying 45,000 people, the results concluded that vegetarians were 32 percent less likely to suffer from a heart attack, than those people who ate meat and fish.
An additional study regarding the consumption of meat by Harvard University was mentioned in the article as well. The results found that after observing 37,698 men and 83,644 women, that meat consumption can raise the total hear and cancer mortality rate.
