Southfield-based wealth management and consulting firm announced today Howard L. Margolis, Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) as its new managing director, wealth management. With 25 years of experience in financial services and banking, Margolis has an impressive reputation as a trusted advisor and leader known for his objective planning, unbiased investing and exceptional client service.
Stimulated by steady growth and expanded service lines, the privately-held firm has aggressive plans for its wealth management division. Margolis will lead efforts to advance its market presence by capitalizing on CIG’s 15-year record of helping clients’ meet their personal and business wealth accumulation goals.

Prior to CIG Corp., Margolis served as the managing director and the director of wealth management for The Private Bank, Michigan. There he was responsible for the daily operations, business development and marketing of the Bank’s wealth management, fiduciary, and risk management service lines. Additionally, he headed up its national financial advisory services team.
Throughout his career, Margolis has established a presence as a notable consultant and speaker for retirement, charitable, tax, and estate planning issues. He first began addressing Fortune 500 and U.S. government audiences as a vice president and regional trust specialist for Salomon Smith Barney, a position in which he assisted more than a 1,000 financial consultants with their clients’ tax and estate planning needs.
Margolis holds a B.A. in finance from Michigan State University and the Regent’s College of London. He completed graduate work at Mount St. Mary’s College and Walsh College. His professional and community pursuits abound, including: formerly serving on the board of directors for Bank One Trust Company, as a member of the Southeast Michigan Financial and Estate Planning Council and as member of the planned giving committee for the Crittenton Hospital Medical Center Foundation.
