Espro Acoustiguide Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of Tristan Interactive, a leading design and technology company based in Ottawa, Canada.

For over 50 years, Espro Acoustiguide has set the standard for audio and multimedia guides and interpretation systems, creative content, and technology solutions for the museum, cultural, and heritage industries. With a global operation through its many daughter companies and an international network of distributors, Espro Acoustiguide has built an enviable worldwide reputation as a market leader.

Tristan has been at the forefront of mobile technology for cultural institutions since its founding in 2009. Tristan is the largest developer of custom museum-oriented apps and websites with over 80 deployed products at such first tier museums as the Musée du Louvre, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Art Gallery of Ontario.

The consolidation of these two complementary companies reflects our shared commitment to excellence and to providing users with the most meaningful, accessible, and engaging experiences possible. It also creates a new market leader, enhancing the Group’s product and service offerings both for the traditional museum, cultural, and heritage industries, as well as new market sectors wishing to offer mobile apps and web solutions to their customers.

Tristan’s mobile application platform, Autour, coupled with custom software development and world-class user interface design, is a complete solution for creating and distributing multimedia content on mobile devices. Autour is a content management system, a content hosting and delivery system, and a set of client-side applications that run on multiple mobile device platforms, including Android and iOS. Autour-based applications support features such as real-time indoor positioning, interactive maps, games, multimedia tours, and in-app purchases. Autour’s cloud-based content management system provides customers the tools to independently author content and have complete control over its delivery.

Espro Acoustiguide and Tristan first partnered in 2011, to launch the Musée du Louvre’s official app, recently ranked by the UK Guardian as one of the best apps for a museum. This highly successful mobile app allows museum visitors to download hundreds of hours of content to their personal devices, including videos, maps, games and tours in seven languages. Building on this success, Espro Acoustiguide and Tristan have continued to collaborate on a number of projects including MCA Insight for the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, an app that includes innovative indoor positioning technology offering visitors access to information on nearby artworks based on their location within the museum.

In joining forces, Espro Acoustiguide and Tristan combine to create a unique entity, one that can leverage Espro Acoustiguide’s longstanding relationships with clients and a deep understanding of their unique requirements and those of their visitors. This unparalleled expertise alongside Tristan’s team of outstanding mobile technology designers and developers ensures that Espro Acoustiguide will continue to deliver state-of-the-art products and services to its worldwide clientele.

Israel Gal, CEO of Espro Acoustiguide Group commented: “Since we first began collaborating with Tristan, we came to deeply appreciate their innovative and creative thinking, and we are thrilled to have them join us as part of the Espro Acoustiguide Group. We are convinced that together we are the ideal team for creating full-featured mobile app and mobile web products, both within the traditional heritage sector and in new markets”.

Chris McLaren, founder of Tristan Interactive added: “In the past two years, we’ve had great success collaborating with Espro Acoustiguide. We highly respect the company they have built and we look forward to bringing our design and technology to much larger worldwide markets.”

Tristan will maintain its identity and will be now referred to as: Tristan Interactive, a member of the Espro Acoustiguide Group. Chris McLaren will join the Group as VP Mobile Technology and the Group will have its New-Media Technology Division located in Ottawa, Canada.
