Australian based guitar education business Rock Guitar Training has recently released a new online training program for rock guitarists. This training program is called Rock Soloing Freedom 1, and is aimed at guitar players who want to learn the basics of rock lead guitar and improvisation.

Rock Soloing Freedom 1 is structured as a ten week course, and is based entirely online in the form of downloadable pdf, audio and videos files. Because of this, it is being made available to rock guitarists from around the world.

The main purpose of the training program is to help rock guitarists new to lead guitar develop the necessary technical and musical skills to play expressive rock guitar solos. It does this by providing detailed lesson materials which help students build a strong foundation for lead guitar. Included in the lesson materials are essential guitar licks to learn, fretboard knowledge exercises, musicianship exercises, improvisation exercises, and also important technical training.

The program creator Craig Bassett, who has had over 20 years experience with teaching guitar, said “I've gone to a lot of trouble to give extremely specific instructions. These make the lessons much easier to understand and also help ensure that the students don't develop any bad habits. This can often happen when a course doesn't provide detailed enough instructions. I've done my best to include all the instructions that I would give when teaching someone on a one-to-one basis.”

As well as providing in depth lesson content, the training program also includes weekly practice schedules. These give students specific practice goals and guidance for every week of the course. “The schedules are an incredibly important part of the course,” said Craig Bassett. “They help students structure their guitar practice in the most effective way. This allows them to master the course content faster, and also progress at a faster rate.”
