DefySupply, a leading online furniture store, is excited to celebrate Earth Day with its customers. Today, DefySupply released a publication outlining 11 simple tips for going green around the home.
The publication, “Earth Day 2013: 11 Easy Tips for a Greener Home,” lists a handful of simple, realistic ways to make the home more environmentally friendly. These changes are designed to reduce waste and chemical emissions, as well as save consumers money on energy bills and unnecessary wasteful or inefficient items, like paper towels or light bulbs.
The article features a few of the following green-living tips:
1. Switch to green cleaning products. Those lemony-fresh cleaners are may do more harm than good. They may clean your home, but they also come with harsh chemicals and noxious fumes. Mix up some inexpensive DIY cleaners from healthy ingredients like vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice.
2. Recycle and repurpose. Need to update your furniture? When buying new living room furniture, donate your old couch and other retired pieces to the Salvation Army or a consignment shop instead of tossing them. Redoing the kitchen? Refinish or repaint your cabinets instead of buying new ones.
3. Use less waste! Limit (or entirely eliminate) the use of paper towels, plastic water bottles, disposable cups and other unnecessary items that will end up in a landfill. Switch to dishrags, reusable storage containers and cloth grocery bags to save money and reduce waste.
“DefySupply recognizes the importance of preserving the environment. We compiled these realistic tips that anyone, on any budget, can implement into their lifestyle and home,” says DefySupply CEO Brent Gensler.
