Mrs. Srirat Rastapana, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), stated that, “DITP has created the ‘Thai Select’ program to further enhance the competitiveness of Thai restaurants both in Thailand and overseas. The ‘Thai Select’ logo is presented to qualified Thai restaurants with outstanding excellence in terms of food quality, authentic Thai food recipes, food preparation and authentic Thai ingredients. We plan to take the ‘Thai Select’ program to another level of international recognition at the THAIFEX – World of food Asia 2013, which is scheduled to run from May 22nd to 26th , 2013, at Challenger 1-3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.”
The ‘Thai Select’ zone will feature 10-15 top Thai restaurants and Thai food products in over 20 exhibition booths. Here, visitors will be entertained by chef’s cooking demonstrations of Thai food favourites including Chicken Green Curry, Chicken Masman Curry, and tuna-based dishes. The presence of ‘Thai Select’ at this year’s THAIFEX event aims to bolster the positive perception of Thai food products and restaurants in the minds of consumers and investors throughout the country and beyond. This is expected to help create greater export opportunities for Thai restaurants, Thai food franchises and related businesses, as well as, generating greater confidence and attracting more Thai and foreign investors to invest in the Thai food industry.
“The annual THAIFEX event has always been regarded as one of the biggest food expositions in this region and it attracts buyers and importers from around the world. We see this as a great platform to promote Thai restaurants, ready-to-eat food products, food ingredients – all of which bear the prestigious ‘Thai Select’ logo. We believe the ‘Thai Select’ zone will receive a warm welcome from visitors and it will contribute to boosting the popularity and generating greater demands of Thai food products overseas,” added Mrs. Srirat.
