Another Epic Weekend for the World-Class Monster Energy Team Bagging Six Gold, Four Silver and Four Bronze X Games Medals

Corona, Calif (PRWEB) April 24, 2013

Monster Energy congratulates its team for yet another amazing performance at X Games Foz do Iguacu 2013 last weekend. In total the team earned an impressive 14 medals across four sports (Skateboarding, BMX, Moto and Surf) throughout the four-day event in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil.

SKATE
Skate Big Air
Jake Brown started the event off with an incredible run in Skate Big Air where he landed the world’s first backside 720 Ollie over the 65-foot gap scoring a 24 out of 25, and earned a bronze medal. This medal follows his two consecutive gold medals for 2009 and 2010, and is his sixth medal on the Big Air ramp.

Street League
Nyjah Huston delivered yet another mind-blowing barrage of technical skating and rolled away with a gold medal at Street League’s debut at the X Games. The win was no surprise considering his competition history as the 2012 Street League Skateboarding Champion, his continued authority on the Street League tour from its inception in 2010, and his X Games Los Angeles 2012 gold medal finish in the unique Real Street event.

Skateboard Park
Monster Energy’s Ben Hatchell walked away with a bronze medal after an incredible performance. With his technical consistency and diverse attack strategy in a challenging bowl setup, Hatchell held one of the top spots throughout the entire contest and landed comfortably in third scoring a 73.

BMX
BMX Vert
Jamie Bestwick made history again by claiming a record seven-straight gold in BMX Vert, and can now add the most consecutive X Games gold medals of all time to his bragging rights. An undeniable force on the ramp, he dominated finals by beating his closest competitor, Coco Zurita by nine points to make for a very convincing win. This win marks the British rider’s 11th career gold and his 13th overall.

BMX Park and BMX Dirt
Monster Energy dominated the podium in BMX Park with teammates Kyle Baldock and Pat Casey taking two podium spots.

Baldock was the top rider throughout the finals claiming gold and his first X Games medal, and Casey impressed by taking a silver medal in his second X Games competition. Baldock clearly dominated BMX and followed it up with another gold medal in BMX Dirt chalking up two gold medals for the young Australian rider.

MOTO
Moto X Best Whip
Monster Energy swept Best Whip podium with Jeremy ‘Twitch’ Stenberg defending his gold from the past two years and taking his third consecutive gold medal. Teammates Edgar Torronteras bagged silver and Josh Hansen earned bronze. Best Whip is judged by the fans who vote via Twitter.

Speed & Style
Andre Villa nailed down silver in Speed & Style and announced his retirement from Freestyle competition.

Freestyle Moto X
Taka Higashino put a final highlight on the weekend for Monster Energy by taking gold in Freestyle Moto X. Regarded as the favorite to win, Taka came in and earned his second consecutive gold in Moto X Freestyle nailing a really insane performance.

SURF
Real Surf
Monster Energy surf teammates Chippa Wilson and Dion Agius claimed silver and bronze medals in Real Surf at X Games Foz do Iguacu. New to the X Games, Real Surf is where eight of the worldʼs best surfers submit 90-second video parts for a shot at X Games gold. Other surfers who submitted edits include Kelly Slater, Julian Wilson, Gabriel Medina, Matt Meola, Josh Kerr and Jordy Smith. A panel of judges ultimately award the medals, but fans decide the Fan Favorite.

To celebrate the weekend and the team, Monster Energy hosted a big party on Friday night. Invited guests included Monster Energy athletes along with other iconic X Games athletes and influencers.
