Spring into a new season and enjoy wines from one of Michigan’s premier vineyards at the Local Roots Spring Evening Dining event, taking place May 2, 2013 at Henry Ford Museum. Enjoy a delicious Oakwood Healthcare-approved heart-healthy spring meal and the wines from Traverse City’s 2 Lads Winery selected and prepared by The Henry Ford’s award-winning culinary staff. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for this event are $65 per person.
The Henry Ford continues to be committed to serving the best fare of the season, integrating locally-sourced ingredients from our network of farmers and producers. This special heart-healthy menu will begin with Juniper Scented Smoked Trout and Roe Braised Rabbit Stuffed Button Mushroom Caps hors d’oeuvres, followed by a White Wine Gelee and Eggless Wine Meringue amuse bouche. Included in the six course menu is a Five Lily Soup and a raw salad of Baby Spinach, Leaf Kale with Asparagus Curls, Heirloom Radish, Red Onion, Walnuts and House Made Michigan White Wine Vinegar Dressing. For the main course guests will enjoy a 2 Lads Winery Red Wine Poached Beef with West Wind Mills Polenta, Wild Leeks, Baby Carrots, Fiddlehead Ferns, Green Beans, and Red Wine Essence. Finally guests won’t have to feel guilty as they finish with a heart-healthy Strawberry Macaroon dessert with Red-Wine Rhubarb Sorbet and Dehydrated Apple Chips.
As part of the evening’s events, guests will get to take home a few heart-healthy recipe cards and hear tips from two registered dieticians from Oakwood. Chris Baldyga, Owner/General Manager of 2 Lads (http://www.2lwinery.com/) will also be on hand to speak about their wines and the industry.
