KANSAS CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) April 24, 2013
The Kauffman Foundation and PBS Distance Learning Network are collaborating to offer worldwide, online facilitator training for the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program in response to a growing demand for training entrepreneurship educators. The program provides online education designed to inspire and engage students in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset and the unlimited opportunities it can provide.
Since its launch in 2011, more than 350 educators and instructors from the United States, Latin America, Europe, India and Southeast Asia have traveled to the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City to learn how to implement the program in their communities. Through the PBS Distance Learning Network, future program educators now will be able to participate in the two-day facilitator training without leaving home.
“The Ice House Entrepreneurship Program has transformed entrepreneurship instruction in classrooms and communities throughout the world,” said Thom Ruhe, vice president of Entrepreneurship at the Kauffman Foundation. “Offering Ice House facilitator training through the PBS Distance Learning Network vastly expands the sphere of educators to whom training is available and, thus, opens the program’s education benefits to many more students worldwide.”
Created through a partnership with the Kauffman Foundation and the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative and inspired by the life story of Pulitzer nominee Clifton Taulbert, the highly interactive, experiential Ice House Entrepreneurship Program includes narrated chalkboard presentations, individual learning assessments, discussion topics and project-based assignments. These teaching techniques are designed to maximize comprehension and assimilation while encouraging real-world application of the core concepts.
“The PBS Distance Learning Network was established to help make opportunities like those available through the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program available to wider audiences,” said Dr. Linda Williams, senior director at WVIZ/PBS ideastream. “It’s gratifying to work with the Kauffman Foundation and the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative to offer this important program to educators throughout the region and around the world.”
The first online Ice House facilitator training will be offered May 28-29, 2013. Facilitators can participate in-person at the WVIZ/PBS ideastream studios in Cleveland, Ohio, or through the PBS Distance Learning Network. More information about the training event, including enrollment information, is available here.
