Nearly two-thirds of Americans choose to hoard old phones rather than recycle them because of concerns about exposing the personal data that may be stored on them.

Oakland, Calif. (PRWEB) April 25, 2013

Oakland, Calif. – Sims Recycling Solutions, the global leader in electronics reuse and recycling, and the Oakland Athletics are partnering to provide convenient cellphone recycling for A’s fans. For every cellphone dropped off for recycling, A’s fans will receive a two-for-one ticket voucher and Sims Recycling Solutions will make a donation to the A’s Community Fund.

Collection bins will be located at the Guest Relations Booth behind section 120 at all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday home games, as well as the May 27 and 28 games.

“This is the first year Sims Recycling Solutions and the Oakland Athletics have teamed up to provide A’s fans with a secure recycling option for their used phones,” stated Steve Skurnac, President, Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas. “Nearly two-thirds of Americans choose to hoard old phones rather than recycle them because of concerns about exposing the personal data that may be stored on them. With a program like this everyone wins: A’s fans can be certain all their information remains secure, plus they will receive vouchers good toward the purchase of game tickets, and Sims will donate to the A’s Community Fund so it can continue to support the work of charitable groups throughout the Bay Area.”

The Oakland A’s Community Fund supports charitable organizations in improving the quality of life for people throughout the Bay Area. Specifically, the Fund supports endeavors to improve educational programs, aid the underprivileged, assist in crime and drug prevention, promote health awareness, and champion children and senior welfare. The A’s Community Fund believes in the need to invest in the community’s future.
