SkyPhrase, Inc., the Natural Language Technology company, announced today that it has launched a Kickstarter project for a Sports Statistics and Alerting service, and brought on Don C. Williams, Jr. as a Senior Business Development Consultant.
SkyPhrase Sports takes complex statistics and alerting capabilities that until now have only been available to professional statisticians and organizations, and puts them in the hands of Fantasy Sports players and other fans. By using cutting-edge Natural Language Understanding technology, SkyPhrase Sports will eliminate the need to follow countless websites, blogs and cheatsheets for fantasy league drafts, evaluating trades, and setting lineups. Users will be able to type or speak questions such as “How many touchdowns per game does Tom Brady average against the Jets” and get the answer within moments. The SkyPhrase Alert feature notifies users about important player or team events as soon as they happen. For example, users can ask to be notified when “Adrian Peterson rushes more than 100 yards” by merely typing or speaking that command. Getting player and team scoring updates in real-time is the life blood of Fantasy Sports and game prediction, and now that feature is being brought directly to fans’ smartphones, tablets, and computers.
There are now almost 35 million fantasy sports players in North America with revenue over $3 billion, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association. “The Fantasy Sports industry continues to grow at a strong rate even through tough economic times,” said FSTA President Paul Charchian. “The combination of great passion for the hobby and inexpensive participation has made fantasy sports very recession resilient. We’re delighted to see participation numbers continue to grow.”
Don C. Williams, Jr. joins SkyPhrase Sports with over 15 years in the Fantasy Sports industry. Williams will be developing innovative partnerships with professional sports organizations and sports and media outlets, and marketing the company's fantasy sports app and sports analytics technology. He will report directly to SkyPhrase’s founder Nick Cassimatis. His previous experience includes the financial services markets and managing the business development division of a major foreign currency trading firm with offices in New York and Los Angeles as well as London, Zürich and Frankfurt.
“SkyPhrase is on the verge of something very innovative with the application of their cutting-edge natural language technology to Fantasy Sports and Sports Analytics,” said Williams. “I'm very excited to be involved on the ground floor of something I feel will have a long term impact on the industry.”
