Following the 43rd Earth Day, Kars4Kids, a national car donation charity, released statistics outlining their significant work and impact through car recycling programs in the Seattle, WA region today. The information includes the measurement in tons for the organization’s efforts during the year 2012, as well as their cumulative efforts from 2005 to today.

“At Kars4Kids, we are deeply committed to helping create a cleaner, more sustainable Earth for future generations to enjoy,” said Robert Moskovits, Vice President and Director of Business Development at Kars4Kids. “Because of this, car recycling has been a part of our car donation programs almost from the very beginning of the Kars4Kids inception. By showing individuals how a small donation can be a part of a much larger impact on our environment, we hope to continue the education of members of our communities on better ways to live green.”

The statistics for car recycling in the Seattle, WA metro area are as follows:
Cars donated to kars4kids from Seattle area in 2012:

  •     Saved 11,200 barrels of oil
  •     Recycled 1540 tons steel
  •     Recycled 112 tons of non-ferrous metals
  •     Recycled metal from Seattle area can produce 31 mil matchbox cars
  •      If spread out, would stretch across the United States 8 times

Cars donated to kars4kids from Seattle area since Kars4kids entered the Seattle metro area::

  •     Saved 128,000 barrels oil
  •     Recycled 17,600 tons steel
  •     Recycled 1280 tons non-ferrous metal
  •     Can produce 358 mil toy cars
  •     If spread out, would stretch across the United States 90.5 times
