Many hard-working Alabama business men and women may be legally entitled to collect money from the BP oil spill settlement, without being aware of that fact,
Birmingham, Alabama (PRWEB) April 26, 2013
"Many hard-working Alabama business men and women may be legally entitled to collect money from the BP oil spill settlement, without being aware of that fact,” said Birmingham attorney Gusty Yearout, senior partner in the Birmingham litigation firm of Yearout & Traylor, P.C.
That’s why Yearout’s law firm and two other Birmingham firms have launched a new social media and Internet campaign, Yearout said. “We’ve created a BP Settlement Help Facebook Page that contains videos explaining how you can tell if you may be entitled to a payment from the BP oil spill settlement. The Facebook page also has a Free Claims Evaluation tab people can use to get a free legal review of their potential BP settlement claim. It’s an extension of our BP Settlement Help website we launched earlier this year to inform the public.”
“Over 141 million people in the United States use Facebook,” said Birmingham attorney Michael J. Evans, who is working with Yearout and a third Birmingham lawfirm on the social media and online campaigns to communicate with potential clients. “We’re just trying to make it easier for people to connect with lawyers in the comfort of their homes, instead of requiring a visit to a law office, which was what was required in the pre-Internet days,” Evans said. “And because many people these days use YouTube, we’ve put the videos from our BPSettlementHelp YouTube channel right there on our Facebook Page.”
Yearout and Evans have teamed up with Gathings Law, a Birmingham law firm with decades of experience in class action litigation. "Most class action lawsuits are confusing for class members," said attorney Lloyd Gathings. "I've spent thirty years representing people and businesses in class action lawsuits, and this is one of the most confusing I’ve seen for lay people to try to understand. We’re trying to do everything we can to simplify the BP oil spill settlement for the class members. Just this week we launched the BP Settlement News website to help people keep up with developments in the BP Settlement. We've even posted a link to the BP Settlement Notice on the website so people can read the notice for themselves.”
The term "BP Settlement" refers to the settlement in In Re: Oil Spill by the Oil Rig “Deepwater Horizon” in the Gulf of Mexico, on April 20, 2010, MDL NO. 2179, pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
