Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 29, 2013
ChemImage Corp. announced the launch of ChemImage Sensor Systems (CISS) today, a new subsidiary headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. The new company will focus on developing innovative products designed for the detection of chemical, biological, explosive (CBE) threats and illicit drugs products through the use of its proprietary hyperspectral imaging (HSI) and filter technology.
“The launch of CISS reflects the growth of ChemImage and its commitment to focus efforts on developing leading-edge technology for the defense and security industry,” said Dr. Matthew P. Nelson, Chief Scientist and Business Director of ChemImage Sensor Systems. “Our goal is to provide advanced products that will help to ensure the safety of civilian and military personnel from harmful threat related circumstances.”
Leveraging years of experience applying novel sensor imaging technology to solve real-world problems, CISS has created a portfolio of HSI sensors and filters for real-time proximity, remote and standoff threat detection in fixed site, on-the-move and handheld configurations.
Most notably, using the discrimination capabilities of HSI combined with innovative filter technology and software, CISS has developed Aperio™, a portable handheld product for wide-field, real-time standoff detection.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to develop this product and we are excited about the potential impact it will have on the industry going forward,” said Nelson.
CISS will be introducing two new products for wide-field, real-time standoff detection applications during SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing at booth 1838, April 29 – May 3, Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, MD.
