Silvio Gazquez, talented guitarist and teacher with Guitar Control has a new guitar lesson that’s suitable for those who would like to learn how to play guitar riffs and how to play rhythm guitar. Silvio recently gained significant recognition as a 2x finalist in the renowned international Guitar Idol competition that takes place in London, England.
The lick in this lesson is from the song Black Night by Deep Purple, the famous British heavy metal band that was formed way back in 1968. Since then, they’ve released a lot of memorable records including this one. The original band members were all skilled musicians and their guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, is considered one of the greats.
This song was originally released as a single in the summer of 1970 and with the help of the catchy riff, it reached #2 on the UK charts. It didn’t actually appear on an album until 1995 when they put out a 25th Anniversary version of their 1970 LP titled In Rock, which is a classic album that’s filled with rockin’ guitar riffs.
This quick video lesson could be an ideal exercise for folks that are looking to learn guitar riffs. Also, it’s not too complex, so it should be good for guitarists at any skill level, including beginners. In addition, playing along with another song can be an effective form of practicing basics like guitar chords and rhythm.
Guitar Control is a U.S. based company that offers low cost DVD sets and free online guitar lessons to basically anyone, anywhere. In fact, their slogan is “we won’t stop until the whole world can play the guitar,” and though they’re off to a good start, it seems they still have quite a long way to go before completing their mission!
