Jon MacLennan, capable guitarist and teacher with Guitar Control.com, is featured in this quick clip in which he teaches comping with country guitar. Comping is actually a common jazz term that basically refers to the chords and/or rhythm guitar that’s used to support another musician’s melody lines or improvised solo.
As far as guitar lessons go, this one seems simple enough for even beginners to follow, as Mr. MacLennan has a way of explaining things in an easy to understand manner. Also, the video only lasts for around 4 minutes, so there’s not too much info to take in at one time. Furthermore, since the lesson is free it can be watched unlimitedly, and the musical notation or country guitar tab is available as well for additional assistance.
