Zaranga recently conducted a survey to gather consumers’ opinions on vacation rental sites and how they make their decision on vacation rentals.
Awareness of vacation rentals is quite high with 74% of respondents reporting that they have rented a vacation rental in the last two years. While 63% of respondents are aware of and use vacation rental sites such as VRBO, HomeAway and AirBnB, they indicated their dissatisfaction with the current options.

As for how respondents decide on a specific vacation rental, proximity to their destination, amenities that they care about and a price point that is within their budget are the main decision points for them. With everything else being equal, 79% of the respondents indicated that they are likely to prefer a professionally managed vacation rental to a rental by owner.
