It’s great to see Americans are taking part in US Veg Week and eating less meat
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
On April 30, 2013, Yumi Media responded to an Ecorazzi.com article on the fourth annual US Veg Week and the recent decrease in meat consumption in the United States.
US Veg Week was founded by non-profit Compassion Over Killing in 2009. It encourages people to take a pledge and cut meat out of their diet for seven days. Their slogan is “There are 52 weeks in a year. Why not make one of them meat-free?”
The article also cites a US Department of Agriculture survey that shows meat consumption has dropped 12% since 2007.
“It’s great to see Americans are taking part in US Veg Week and eating less meat,” says Justin Maas, a representative from Yumi Media. “It’s good for their health, the environment, and allows so much creativity in cooking.”
US Veg Week also has the support of many celebrities, like NBA Player and vegetarian John Sally, according to the article’s writer, Allyson Koener.
“Giving up meat, even if just for a few days, seems tough at first. Certainly, Quorn and many other meat substitute companies make going meatless much easier than it seems,” Maas continues.
US Veg week started on Monday, April 22 (Earth Day) but it’s never too late to participate. If you want to go meatless for a day, a week, or more, Yumi Media recommends using a meat substitute like Quorn to help ease the transition.
