On April 29, 2013, My Positive Perspective featured an episode that outlined another way the company and its founder, Jason Deierlein, are attempting to improve the development of our youth in today’s society. Recently a school in the Charleston area, Stall High School, had their first ever symposium. The symposium featured various business owners in the community and gave them a chance to deliver a series of speeches about their days as business owners. On the My Positive Perspective episode, Deierlein said of the event, “This is a way for me to discuss every adversity I faced in life and demonstrate how getting the situation under control and working hard to correct it is the best way to react to any adverse circumstance.”
Deierlein noted in the episode that his first s school symposium was at Burke Middle School and that his story of standing up to challenges first began in his early high school years at the swim pool. He said, “I worked hard at swim practice, and I turned out to be a successful swimmer. I was able to communicate the importance of athletics in the developmental years.” Deierlein was able to directly relate his swimming career to his car accident, and remarked that, “Life is all about how you react to adverse circumstances. Everybody faces them at some point or another, but your ability to remain positive through adversity is what defines you.”
My Positive Perspective is a media outlet believing that improvement in our community will be best achieved by focusing on the good things happening in our world today. Having survived a near fatal car accident as a youth, a shift of perception forced one to have a mentality of always concentrating on the brighter sides of things. This was true, and in my book, Return From a Comatose Mind, this belief was put to the test. Appreciation for life was the biggest thing one took away from my brush with death, and it is because of that gives me such a huge desire to be helpful to many. My Positive Perspective is a way of overcoming challenges.
