The profiles offered to the students include highly desired roles like sales and marketing, supply chain management and logistics planning, to name a few.
Banking and Financial Services
Recruitment by banking and financial institutions from VGSoM has steadily increased over the years and this year has seen the sector contribute the most to the summer placements. BFSI giants such as Citibank, ING Vysya, Reserve Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Bank of Baroda have offered niche profiles like credit finance, treasury management, wholesale banking, corporate finance, retail banking, credit risk analysis and banking operations to students. NCDEX, the leading commodity exchange in India also offered internships to students in their marketing division. With most students having prior experience in IT/ITES sector, this sector has historically been one of the school’s strengths. The scenario has further improved, as this year signaled the start of the relationship with industry stalwart Google India, which offered students the business process improvement profile. Other industry majors like Wipro, Siemens Corporate Technology and Hewlett-Packard continued to offer internships in the areas of business consulting, IT consulting, CRM and analytics. Multinational media and information firm Thomson Reuters was also an esteemed addition to the list of recruiters this year.
Manufacturing and Automobile
Manufacturing has traditionally been the forte of VGSoM, and this year was no different. Trusted partners in this sector have consistently shown faith in the school and a healthy 24% of the students received offers from the manufacturing sector companies this year. Industry leaders like Tata Motors, Daimler India (Bharat Benz), Voltas Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and National Thermal Power Corporation offered profiles in operations, marketing, and supply chain management.
E-commerce sector has seen the maximum growth in terms of the number of offers extended to students compared to last year. A number of exciting startups like Valyoo Technologies, MyDeals24x7 and TaxiForSure offered roles in operations and brand management.
Despite the economic slowdown affecting placements at business schools across the country this year, VGSoM has recorded an increment of 20% in the average stipend this placement season. Apart from its coveted regulars, many reputed first-time recruiters also participated in the process and offered diverse profiles ensuring that our students get an internship of their choice.
