Michael Perch, principal consultant at Road Map Consulting LLC., is continuing his SCORE DC workshop series with SCORE I am 8(a) Certified, Now What Do I Do? Workshop held on Wednesday, May 29th at the SCORE Washington, D.C. Chapter office located at 740 15th Street, NW from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
This workshop is designed for soon to be certified SBA 8(a) companies as well as those companies that have been in the program and not fulfilled their projected levels of federal government contract business.
Michael Perch has been active in the SCORE Washington, DC Chapter since 2007. Perch also teaches workshops on Project Management, GSA Schedules and Marketing to the Federal Government. During the workshop, Perch will share real-life tested and proven strategies and tactics that will successfully propel an 8(a) company. The other two classes he teaches in this series are entitled “How to gain SBA 8(a) Certification” and “ 8(a) Company Best Practices.”
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program offers small business owners resources and support to help grow their businesses through counseling and providing opportunities for them to access government contracts. The main goal of the program is to help owners of small businesses that are considered socially or economically disadvantaged become thriving competitors in the federal marketplace, however over 60% of all SBA Certified 8(a) companies never receive one contract, while in the nine (9) year program. This workshop will teach business owners how to strategize in order to get the maximum benefit of this designation.
This half-day SCORE workshop is geared toward women and minority business owners who want to learn how to conduct business with the government.
