Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) May 01, 2013
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro is pleased to announce that Dr. Maria Hanlin is its new Executive Director/CEO, effective June 1, 2013. Dr. Hanlin brings a wide range of non-profit experience in the fields of development, fundraising, long-term planning, media relations and stewardship to her new role leading Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro.
For the past 8 years, Dr. Hanlin has served as the Executive Director of Mecklenburg Ministries in Charlotte, which promotes interfaith relationships, fosters racial and ethnic understanding, and inspires collaboration to address social issues. During that time she has transformed the agency from one with modest resources into a community leader. Previously Dr. Hanlin was the founding pastor of Light of Christ United Methodist Church, establishing missionary outreach programs to Haiti, Cambodia, Belize and Lithuania and launching more than 20 mini-ministries to support local service agencies. In an earlier position at the School of Theology at Claremont she served as the Director of Admissions, recruiting the seminary’s largest and most multi-cultural class and establishing nationwide networks with alumni and theological schools.
After a thorough search process, the Search Committee unanimously selected Dr. Hanlin as the new Executive Director/CEO. “The Search Committee is ecstatic we were able to entice a person of Maria’s capabilities and passion for her work to take this organization to the next level of excellence Our long search is over and we are convinced the time and effort were well rewarded and that we and Maria were called to find each other,” said Board Chair Jay DeVaney. “She is convinced an investment in Habitat for Humanity is an investment in a community’s future.”
“I am honored to be stepping into this position,” said Dr. Hanlin. “I have been involved with Habitat for Humanity since the early 1990s and believe wholeheartedly in its mission to bring together people of all faiths to build quality, affordable homes and thriving neighborhoods where families can build better lives.”
Dr. Hanlin succeeds past executive director Winston McGregor, who ably led the organization since 2006.
