“We’ve seen the heartache that families go through when a young driver crashes, and we’re committed to doing everything we possibly can to help prevent teen driver injuries and fatalities,” says Montlick & Associates Founder and CEO David R. Montlick.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 01, 2013
As part of their ongoing commitment to driver safety, Montlick and Associates, Georgia Auto Accident Attorneys, is proud to sponsor the Safe America Foundation’s 2013 SafeTeen Georgia Driving Academy, Saturday May 4th at Cobb Galleria Centre, Two Galleria Parkway, Atlanta 30339 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. This program is in its eighth year, and provides teens with essential information and training, including interactive driver safety lessons from driving experts, law enforcement, traffic court judges, emergency responders, plus important legal tips and advice from the experienced accident attorneys at Montlick & Associates. Parents are encouraged to register their teens 14 years and older at the SafeAmerica.org website. A special Montlick code (MON02F) may be used to gain free admission for one parent and one teen per family (A cost savings of $20. Fee for additional family members is $10 per person).
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are three times more likely than drivers aged 20 and older to be in a fatal crash for every mile driven. The SafeTeen Driving Academy is designed to reduce teen driver accidents and fatalities by giving teens hands-on practical training in a safe learning environment. Driving simulators, and other interactive teaching methods will give teens an opportunity to navigate common driving hazards while not being placed at risk. Seminars will include basic driving laws, the penalties for violating these traffic safety laws, and allow teens to witness an accident reenactment and recovery, among other important lessons. Event activities will also include:
- Distracted Driving Experience: To illustrate the dangers associated with texting and driving, teens will have an opportunity to navigate an obstacle course while being distracted by text messaging. Computer simulators will allow teens to see first hand, the impact of texting on braking distance and other driving abilities.
- Drug and Alcohol Impaired Driving Activities: Participants will be given the opportunity to drive with goggles that simulate alcohol impaired driving.
- Law Enforcement/Court Experience: Drivers will be allowed to participate in a simulated traffic stop where they are asked to perform field sobriety tests. Teens will also participate in a mock court hearing with a traffic court judge.
- Accident Instruction Workshop: A workshop given by an experienced Atlanta personal injury attorney will teach teens what steps they should take to stay safe at an accident scene, and what teens must do to protect their legal rights after an accident.
The Georgia auto accident lawyers at Montlick and Associates and the experts from the Safe America Foundation invite all Atlanta parents and teens to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn essential driver safety lessons in a fun hands-on environment. “We’ve seen the heartache that families go through when a young driver crashes, and we’re committed to doing everything we possibly can to help prevent teen driver injuries and fatalities,” says Montlick & Associates Founder and CEO David R. Montlick. “That’s why supporting Safe America’s SafeTeen Driving Academy is so important to us each year, and why we work so hard to get the word out to as many parents as possible.”
