Let the kids have fun with play dough math games.
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) May 08, 2013
The addition activity is simple to make and can lead to hours of fun entertainment for the preschoolers. Materials needed are play dough, some golf tees or other small objects, and a permanent marker.
Flatten a few balls of play dough onto the kitchen table. Write numbers one through five with the marker on golf tees or other small objects found in the house. Let the child make marks on the play dough with the golf tee according to the number on the tee.
Slowly introduce each number and let the child push the amount into the play dough. Once the child has mastered this activity, introduce simple take away and add one more concepts. Depending on the child's skill level introduce numbers up to ten.
Another fun math game for the bit advanced math learners is going on a number scavenger hunt in the house. Variations of this game can be played according to the math skill level. Materials needed are only a pile of number cards. Put the cards into a pile in the living room and let them either pick out all odds or all even numbers. He or she has to put them in order and then find objects in the house according to the number on the card.
