Portland, ME (PRWEB) May 02, 2013

Continued growth has moved Woodard & Curran up to 89th on the list of the top engineering firms in North America. This is the 6th consecutive year that the firm has risen on industry observer Engineering News-Record’s annual listing of the Top 500 Design Firms, which ranks companies based on revenue for the previous year.

“In the last several years, we have continued to add exceptional talent to support our business diversity,” said Woodard & Curran CEO Douglas McKeown. “We have added capabilities and are expanding our work in the energy industry, including environmental work in the shale gas industry, solar power design work, and natural gas transmission and distribution development. We have done this while maintaining our focus on our other core businesses like water and wastewater treatment, environmental cleanup work, and manufacturing facility design.”

Woodard & Curran is currently working with Summit Utilities of Maine to develop a natural gas pipeline and distribution network that will provide service to 14 communities and as many as 50,000 customers. This will allow residents to convert from heating oil, saving money and reducing carbon emissions.

The firm also recently took over operation of all department of public works functions for the City of Monmouth, IL, including water and wastewater treatment, park maintenance, and street sweeping. The public-private partnership saves the city money without reducing the level of service to residents.

In addition to the move up the overall list, Woodard & Curran rose to 58th on the list of “Pure Design” firms, which includes only companies that derive a majority of their revenue from engineering or design rather than construction activities.

Woodard & Curran is a 700-person, integrated engineering, science, and operations company serving clients locally and nationwide. The firm has offices in Portland and Bangor, ME; Andover and Dedham, MA; Cheshire and Windsor Locks, CT; Providence, RI; White Plains, NY; East Windsor, NJ; and Pittsburgh, PA. It operates more than 40 treatment facilities across the country. Visit http://www.woodardcurran.com for more information.
