Asheville's Fun Depot offers family fun for everyone

“This will be a fun event for the community to come together and celebrate with our families and also support an important charity in Asheville,” according to Christine Maloney, Marketing Manager for Asheville’s Fun Depot.

Asheville’s Fun Depot and Kiss Country 99.9 will host community event, Andrew’s 2nd Birthday Bash, this Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2 pm until 5 pm with proceeds benefiting the Tye Blanton Foundation.

This is the second annual event to celebrate local am DJ Sharon Green’s son Andrew. The community has been following Green, a DJ for Kiss Country 99.9, since her pregnancy with Andrew. Andrew is now turning two. The Country station will be on-hand to co-host the upcoming celebration. This will also give guests an opportunity to experience the great changes that have been going on at Asheville’s Fun Depot.

“This will be a fun event for the community to come together and celebrate with our families and also support an important charity in Asheville,” according to Christine Maloney, Marketing Manager for Asheville’s Fun Depot.

The event will also benefit the Tye Blanton Foundation. Tye Blanton, the son of former Trooper Shawn Blanton, who was slain in the line of duty, and wife Michaela, fought numerous medical conditions, including congestive heart failure at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Memorial Mission Hospital, until his death at age four and a half months. To honor Tye, the Tye Blanton Foundation supplies items for premature and sick infants of the NICU to give a sense of personality and comfort to these infants and help parents make the NICU a home away from home, according to the foundation’s website.

The event will be hosted at Asheville’s Fun Depot. With each $10 donation to the Tye Blanton Foundation, guests will receive $10 worth of play and free play in the Kid’s Adventure Express and Tot’s Turtle Lagoon at the family fun center. The event will go from 2 pm until 5 pm. Guests are invited to bring their families and friends to celebrate.
