Winner of City Paper’s 2012 Best Burger, Black & Orange, is partnering with the European style bakery, Baguette Republic, to enhance the international flavor that sets the burger grilling company apart from others in the gourmet fast food industry.

Black & Orange is famous for artisan burgers such as Pardon My French, Ciao Down, and Curried Away that pack the flavors of France, Italy and Southeast Asia directly into each handcrafted, all natural burger patty. Using the best European techniques and traditions, Baguette Republic is introducing a custom line of burger buns and ciabatta specifically for Black & Orange’s internationally inspired burgers.

“We earned our reputation for having the best burgers in DC by breaking the mold for burger companies. We made ‘grabbing a burger’ a gourmet experience by bringing the flavors of the world to an American classic. Our new artisan bread line adds the perfect finishing to our uniquely crafted burgers,” said Costa Tsiolis, General Manager of Black & Orange, “It’s like finding the perfect frame for an exquisite painting.”

Served one of two ways, pink or no pink, Black & Orange burgers rely on the heat of the grill to bring out flavors such as black truffle oil, basil, ginger, and sundried tomatoes that are grilled into each handmade patty. Likewise, Baguette Republic has its own made-from-scratch process. Using flour that is never bleached or over-processed, each batch is given a pre-fermented start using granny smith apple as a flavor and fermenting agent and then given a full 36 hours between the mix and the baking to enhance the aroma and create the perfect texture.

“It was important for us to work with a baker that shared our values: never processed, handcrafted, and only the freshest ingredients,” said Tsiolis. “Dahmane Benarbane and Baguette Republic not only share our values but our vision of providing an exceptional dining experience that fits into the rush of our daily lives. We’re proud to be growing in partnership with another local business.”

Black & Orange will also feature a line of custom-made deserts from Baguette Republic.
