Grants Pass, Ore (PRWEB) May 03, 2013
Dutch Bros. Coffee will give customers a free custom comic book, Dutch Bros. Freedom Fighters #4, to celebrate National Free Comic Book Day.
The comic is the fourth in a kid-friendly series written by Jason Hetzer and illustrated by Jeffery Egli, who are both based in Grants Pass, Ore.
Dutch Bros. Coffee employs a large number of comic book enthusiasts, among them Company Co-founder Dane Boersma’s son Brant, who is editor-in-chief.
“Comics are a way of story telling, and Dutch Bros. loves stories,” says Brant. “In the stands, you get to hear all these different stories about customers’ lives, and they become your friends.”
In addition to “spreading the Dutch Love” to its customers, Dutch Bros. gives over $1 million annually to nonprofit organizations and causes selected by local owner-operators.
“Comics are filled with characters who do good things for their communities, which is what Dutch Bros. is all about,” says Dutch Bros. Coffee Creative Director Dan Buck.
“Like the Freedom Fighters, we get together as a team, we attack the cause and we unite under the cup,” says Brant.
Dutch Bros. will distribute 50,000 copies of the issue for free at all of its 198 drive-thru coffee stands in Oregon, California, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado and Arizona. The first issue of Dutch Bros. Freedom Fighters debuted on Apr. 1, 2011. The characters started out as fun stickers for kids and were later developed into the highly popular comic book.
