Smith & Fong, makers of Plyboo Bamboo Flooring and Bamboo Paneling today announced the promotion of Angus Stocks to company President. Current President Dan Smith, who with James Fong started the company in 1989, will move into the new role of company Founder.

“Angus’s leadership, resourcefulness and energy have been instrumental in driving sales growth and expanding our market reach,” said Mr. Smith. “He’s been a key part of our success and we are pleased to announce his promotion to President.”

Mr. Smith will remain at the company in a largely unchanged role, overseeing production and other operations. Mr. Stocks will continue to develop sales and marketing operations.

Mr. Stocks joined the company 1996 as an equity partner in charge of developing new markets for the Plyboo products. He quickly rose to the position of Vice President. Under Mr. Stock’s leadership, Plyboo emerged from a largely domestic provider of bamboo flooring and plywood into an international company, with distributers in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other international locations.

“Now that the construction business is gaining steam, said Mr. Stocks, “we look forward to expanding within existing markets and looking for new growth opportunities.”

Dan Smith and James Fong founded Smith & Fong in 1989 as a manufacturer of art-craft quality bamboo pieces. In 1993, it introduced bamboo flooring to the United States. Today the company manufactures, sells and distributes a wide variety of bamboo flooring and paneling. In 2001, the company began manufacturing flooring and paneling made of plantation-grown palm trees that were no longer fruit-bearing, creating a new use for a material that would otherwise be disposed of.

Smith & Fong Plyboo, an environmentally conscious company, has many products that are Forest Stewardship Council certified.

Plyboo manufactures quality bamboo flooring and panels made from bamboo or tropical palm wood. For more information about their products, including online ordering of bamboo flooring or samples, please visit http://www.plyboo.com
