Society often falls short in dealing with aging. Yet through conscious practices, we can proactively progress through elderhood, creating intentional life experiences from which to significantly grow as human beings. - CJ Kenna, Director, Rock The Path
Camden, Maine (PRWEB) May 03, 2013
Rock The Path, a nonprofit retreat and education center in Camden, Maine, will be holding free Conscious Aging workshops on May 11 and June 1. Rock The Path was chosen as one of 30 organizations and individuals across the nation to assist the Institute of Noetic Sciences, a nonprofit research and educational organization founded in 1973 by Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, in piloting their new Conscious Aging curriculum.
Designed to encourage those in mid- to later-life to explore their consciousness to become more balanced, self-compassionate, and intentional through the process of aging, the Conscious Aging program utilizes meditations, mindfulness, envisioning, collective discussion, journaling, and sharing to invite shifts in consciousness away from self-limitation, lack, isolation, and fear--towards expansiveness, inclusiveness, wholeness, connection, and compassion.
"We are honored and excited to be assisting the Institute of Noetic Sciences in the development of this program. Intentional aging and positive, conscious approaches to end-of-life transition are a core focus of our programming," says CJ Kenna, a former social worker who holds a degree in psychology and is a co-founding director at Rock The Path.
Since 2008, Rock The Path has been a leader in Maine in the development and facilitation of consciousness programs, offering weekend retreats and workshops for self development and personal growth. Associated with the nonprofit research and educational organization The Monroe Institute, Rock The Path extensively utilizes The Monroe Institute's Hemi-Sync© audio technology which guides users into meditative states ideal for relaxation, learning, and personal development. While not a focus in the Conscious Aging program, participants will have the opportunity to sample Hemi-Sync© and its benefits during short mindfulness segments designed to help participants relax, reflect, and become inspired.
Rock The Path will be offering four workshops in the Conscious Aging curriculum: Self Compassion on May 11 from 9 am - 12 pm; Death Makes Life Possible on May 11 from 2 pm - 5 pm; Surrender on June 1 from 9 am - 12 pm, and A New Vision of Aging on June 1 from 2 pm - 5 pm. The workshops are free and open to those aged 30 and over. Participants make attend one, all, or any of the four workshops and registration for each workshop is required.
