Human Alliance Ltd, one of Washington, D.C. leading HR and management consulting firms specializing in labor, employment, and workplace issues sees the controversial new book, titled “ Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead” by Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg as a visionary book with accurate assessments of the workplace for women.

Recently, Sheryl Sandberg COO of Facebook, released her new book which details the challenges that women professionals face in their personal and professional lives. The book focuses on business issues regarding the lack of opportunities given to women in government, and especially in leadership positions.

“What’s most interesting about the book is that is that it details and explains some of the biases that are faced by women in the workplace, which sometimes can originate from other women in the workplace. The book tries to capture an answer to the question ‘Can women have it all’, meaning both professional and personal success,” comments Joseph Shaheen, Managing Principal of the Human Alliance Ltd. and one of the country’s leading consultant on workplace challenges.

In one recently published academic study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, titled “Science faculty’s subtle gender biases favor male students”, leading researchers from Yale and Princeton found that a “stark gender disparity persists within academic science” that favors men over women.

As a by-product the study also found that women judges in the experiment were just as likely if not more likely to favor male applicants for a laboratory manager position, because of perceived higher competency.
“This is why the book is so visionary and comes highly recommended. What Sheryl Sandberg did is try to help other women who face similar challenges recognize the disparity, and do something about it. Usually, successful members of under-represented groups, once they achieve success, forget the role that they must play to help others that are in the same position they were in before their success. That’s why this book is even more special than usual,” comments Shaheen.
The book can be found in major book stores and online.
