Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 06, 2013

On May 4, 1988, Martha de la Torre and Joe Badame started distributing the first copies of a small weekly publication called El Clasificado in East Los Angeles to serve the needs of the Latino community. At the time, they couldn’t imagine that, despite the strong competition, their shopper would eventually become the largest free Spanish language publication in the nation.

Today, El Clasificado is the go-to publication for thousands of Hispanics interested in finding products, services, and useful, empowering editorials throughout Southern and Central California and beyond. Furthering this growth, El Clasificado turned into a dynamic media group that, under the name EC Hispanic Media, provides engaging web, mobile, events and custom publications targeting the various segments of the emerging Hispanic market.

“Listening to our audience is our key to success. El Clasificado has grown and evolved in the last two decades because we listen and learn from our audience, our advertisers, readers, and employees. Through their collaborative efforts, we have expanded beyond a classified shopper to provide our services through the ever changing media channels available to our community,” says Martha de la Torre, CEO of El Clasificado. “We have diversified our print offerings with El Punto and Quinceanera.com magazines but have also empowered our community with our Pacoslist Business Directory and with Elclasificado.com which has a robust mobile site to buy and sell goods that now surpasses 9 million pageviews on mobile alone.”

For Joe Badame, COO of El Clasificado, success translates into creating quality jobs for the community and helping small business owners get more clients. “Making El Clasificado the success it is today was not easy. What has motivated us all along is seeing a small classified customer grow into a multi-branch business because of customers that reached him through us or knowing we hired an employee to start at ground level and that now manages an office of their own. El Clasificado has many stories of success like this which is what makes us proud of our success. We are now in the San Diego, Central Valley, and Arizona markets and we look forward to helping businesses in those communities thrive as well. Our growth, which is linked to the growth of our advertisers, is unstoppable and we look forward to seeing this happen in more key Hispanic markets nationally.”

El Clasificado will celebrate its 25th anniversary May 9 at the LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in downtown Los Angeles. In attendance will be political figures, entrepreneurs, and influential members of the Hispanic community. At the event, El Clasificado, which has received various awards on behalf of Ernst & Young, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), and the Small Business Association (SBA), will be honored with a certificate of recognition for its support to the Hispanic community from the office of Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles City Council member and mayoral candidate for the city of Los Angeles.
