InTTENSITY Corporation will be hosting its second annual Federal Social Media Summit at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA on May 22, 2013. This year’s summit will focus on federal agency use of social media and citizen privacy, law enforcement investigation, message dissemination, citizen polling, monitoring, collecting, and analyzing social media data.
InTTENSITY is pleased to announce that John Daley, Boston Police Deputy Superintendent and CTO will be speaking at the InTTENSITY Federal Social Media Summit about the Use of Social Media Techniques to help in the aftermath of the tragic Boston Marathon Bombings. Deputy Superintendent, John Daley, has been with the Boston Police Department 30 years rising up through the ranks from Police Officer to CTO and Deputy Superintendent. He ran much of the social media strategy for the Boston Police Department before and after the Boston Marathon Bombings. Speaking about the investigation following the Boston Marathon attack, Mr. Daley said, “We learned that to be effective, it is critical to prepare and be familiar with the social media environment before a crisis hits.” Superintendent Daley will explain how the Boston Police Department used Social Media before the bombings, adapted to the opportunities social media afforded the Department during the crisis and the investigation, and lessons learned that will be included into best practices moving forward. Deputy Superintendent Daley will speak at 8:15 AM at the Summit which is open free of charge to anyone that is in Public Service at the Federal, State, or Local Level. Deputy Superintendent John Daley attended UMASS-Boston as well as the National Judicial College. Mr. Daley started with the Boston Police Department as a Police Officer in 1983. Promoted in 1991 to Sergeant working in the Gang Unit. Promoted to Sergeant Detective in 1994 working with the Drug Control Unit, Bureau of Investigative Services, Intelligence Unit, Gang Unit, and Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC). In 2007, John Daley was promoted to Lieutenant. In 2007, promoted to Deputy Superintendent and commander of the Operations Division. And most recently in 2011, selected to be the Boston PD Chief Technology Officer.
