Dr. Chuang joins Netsmart from Lockton Benefit Group in Kansas City, Mo., where he served as senior vice president, health risk management. He previously led the development of care management and clinical decision support systems at CIGNA Corporation. Prior to that, he was a director and vice president at Cerner Corporation, where he led initiatives ranging from a systems-based care transformation service with focus on evidence-based practice to a next-generation CDS system with context-sensitive clinical information presentation and viewing.
He has also held clinical leadership positions at TherapyEdge, Inc., Click4Care, McKessonHBOC, Wellport Health Plan and HealthSource-Provident Administrators, Inc.
“I look forward to working with Dr. Chuang as he brings a strong physical health perspective and knowledge in clinical decision support and predictive analytics. This will contribute greatly to our key initiatives in these critical areas,” said Dennis Morrison, Ph.D, Netsmart’s chief clinical officer. Drs. Chuang and Morrison will work collaboratively as senior clinical leaders as Netsmart charts a path for its clients toward coordinated, integrated care.
Dr. Chuang received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science degree in Administrative Medicine from the University of Wisconsin. He currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics, School of Medicine, at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He also continues to engage with public-private sector efforts around data standards and quality, currently as a member of the National Quality Forum Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC).
