Major League Soccer Names Renowned Sports Health Leader, Damion Martins, MD, as Administrative Medical Director

Major League Soccer has appointed Damion Martins, MD, a recognized leader in sports performance and exercise testing, as its Administrative Medical Director.

Major League Soccer has appointed Damion Martins, MD, as its Administrative Medical Director. In his new capacity, Dr. Martins will lead the MLS Compliance Committee, and review and develop medical policies, procedures and best practices.

Dr. Martins, board-certified in internal medicine and sports medicine, is a recognized leader in sports performance and exercise testing. He lectures extensively in the field of sports medicine and is renowned for his research in hydration, cardiovascular training programs and concussions.

Dr. Martins, who is also the Director of Internal Medicine for the New York Jets and member of the NFL Team Physician Society, has served as the Chief of Internal Medicine for the US Open Tennis Championship and team physician to NHL’s New York Islanders.
