Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) May 07, 2013
Freeslate, Inc., the leading provider of high throughput research solutions, today announced highlights of its annual customer meeting, “Freeslate Forum 2013”, held April 30 - May 2, 2013 at the Clift Hotel in San Francisco. The meeting featured in-depth hands-on training, opportunities to explore the latest advancements in Freeslate solutions, and discussions of best practices in high throughput research and data management for R&D directors, managers, and scientists from the Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Energy fields.
At this year’s Customer Forum, approximately 75 attendees – triple that of the company’s inaugural Forum in 2010 – gathered to discuss the challenges and opportunities of high throughput chemistry research and bring knowledge about best practices back to their organizations. The Forum consisted of formal, case-study presentations by a diverse set of customers including Argonne National Lab, Borealis, Johnson & Johnson, Genentech, and AstraZeneca, who highlighted their experience with Freeslate tools to achieve dramatic innovation and rapid return on investment. Hands-on training sessions were given by Freeslate staff who focused on accelerating productivity. Also, new product demonstrations allowed attendees to see automation tools at work and discuss specific implementation with scientists and technicians. Networking between sessions and at evening events offered opportunities for one-on-one discussion and sharing best practices.
“We recognize the unique challenges facing chemistry researchers today who are under pressure to accelerate breakthrough innovations and do it faster and better than the competition,” said John S. Senaldi, President and CEO of Freeslate. “We’re pleased that the Freeslate Forum brings together the best ideas from a range of industries to help scientists learn, explore, and achieve their R&D goals.”
A keynote presentation given by Steven R. Maple, Senior Director, Analytical Sciences Research & Development, Eli Lilly and Company, titled “What is the Value of Automation and Informatics in the Changing Pharmaceutical Industry?” discussed how to position automation and informatics in the evolving pharmaceutical business models. A second keynote by Vincenzo Busico, Professor, Laboratory of Stereoselective Polymerizations (LSP), Department of Chemical Sciences, Federico II University of Naples, titled “HTE Tools from Specialties to Commodities: Not a Downgrade!” highlighted Professor Busico’s experience using Freeslate’s Parallel Pressure Reactor (PPR) as a routine tool to fine-tune known catalysts and improve their everyday research.
At this year’s Freeslate Customer Forum, attendees said it was “an excellent meeting” and they “obtained a better understanding of what others are doing and how they’re applying HT technology.” Others mentioned that they were able to interact with other attendees and create new contacts. Another attendee commented, “The Freeslate Team is a really talented and energetic group. Everyone in the organization rose to the occasion and made it a very successful session.” A majority of this year’s attendees plan to attend next year. Freeslate 2014 Customer Forum is scheduled April 2014 in San Francisco.
