Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 07, 2013
SeniorHomes.com, an online directory and resource for seniors and their families searching for senior care and senior housing, today announced the recipients of its first annual “Best Senior Living Awards” in the Portland metropolitan area. To determine the winners of the Best Senior Living Awards in and around Portland, SeniorHomes.com along with a panel of local experts assigned numerical scores on a scale of one to ten to each facility. Scores are based on a number of weighted factors, including reviews from residents and their families, ratings from local industry experts, and public state inspection data.
“To determine the winner and the top rated senior living communities, we subjected the communities in the Portland area to our comprehensive ratings methodology” said Chris Rodde, CEO of SeniorHomes.com. “There are currently more than 140 senior living facilities in the Portland metro area, and that number is likely to continue to grow as the population ages and baby boomers start to need additional help in their daily lives. Our goal with this program is to help seniors and their loved ones make more educated decisions as well as to recognize those facilities that are raising the bar in terms of what a great senior living community can offer to its residents.”
Markham House, a Leisure Care property located in West Portland, was named as the overall top community in the Portland awards program. In addition, 30 top communities were identified in the Best Senior Living Awards Program as the “Top Rated” in Portland. The complete list of Top Rated Senior Communities in Portland can be viewed here.
“We have always strived for excellence in every aspect of our community and it is a testament to the many exceptional individuals who work here that we have been honored with this recognition as the best senior living community in the Portland area,” said Lee Hess, General Manager at Leisure Care, operator of Markham House. “The number of senior living facilities has skyrocketed over the past two decades and it has become more challenging for seniors to make the best choice for them. The Best Senior Living Awards program should go a long way in helping seniors and their families objectively evaluate all of their options.”
SeniorHomes.com will be expanding its ratings program and the Best Senior Living Awards to the top 50 US metropolitan areas with the goal of identifying the top senior living communities across the US. After announcing the awards winners in all 50 markets, SeniorHomes.com will announce the Top 100 Senior Living Communities across the US later this year.
