Portland, OR (PRWEB) May 08, 2013
Portland State University is proud to announce the launch of the online Leadership in Criminal Justice Certificate. The certificate offers a robust curriculum focused on cutting edge knowledge and leadership skills in the criminal justice environment. The certificate can be completed 100% online, allowing students to finish the certificate in as little as 4 quarters (12 months). Applications are now being accepted for the Summer 2013 term.
The online Leadership in Criminal Justice Certificate is awarded by Portland State University’s College of Urban and Public Affairs and compliments the current portfolio of options for PSU online students. Focusing on shaping tomorrow’s criminal justice leaders, the certificate has been designed for professionals who want to examine specific issues of leadership and ethics within criminal justice settings. As part of the Criminology & Criminal Justice Division of the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government, the online Leadership in Criminal Justice Certificate consists of 24 total credits and is fully accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
According to CCJO Director, Dr. Laura Hickman, “We created this new certificate program to help current and future professionals prepare for success in their careers. Many of our students are already working in the field in some capacity and we wanted to develop a specialized concentration to help those working to move up in their agency.” Dr. Hickman says the new program offers a flexible non-degree credential that can be earned alone or in combination with the fully online CCJ bachelor’s degree. “We are really pleased with the great response so far. It’s really taken off.”
