Snap magazine, the digital lifestyle and culture publication owned by Hipstamatic, today announced that magazine industry veteran Chiun-Kai Shih has been named Creative Director. Effective today, Shih will oversee Snap’s creative direction in the fashion and luxury sections of the magazine. Shih joins the existing Snap magazine team, including founders Lucas Buick and Ryan Dorshorst, Editorial Director Mario Estrada, Editor in Chief Molli Sullivan and Editorial Assistant Rheanna Martinez.
“Chiun-Kai brings nearly two decades of magazine experience and valuable understanding of fashion, luxury and lifestyle brands to Snap,” said Lucas Buick, founder, Snap Magazine. “His knowledge, along with Snap’s existing staff, which has a keen eye for identifying ‘what’s next’ across photography, fashion, music, and pop culture, primes the publication for monumental growth in 2013 and beyond.”
Chiun-Kai has built a multi-faceted career in the magazine and publishing industry, and has had editorial work featured in VOGUE, GQ, Details, Harper's Bazaar, and VIBE Magazine, among many others. In addition to his new role at Snap, he is currently a creative editor for August Man Malaysia and Jessica Magazine, and a creative contributor for Conde Nast InterCulture.
Since bringing the publication to iPhone in November, Snap has tripled its monthly subscribers to nearly 400,000 readers. Snap’s May Destination issue is available today in iTunes Newsstand.
