Fred Gordon’s debut book ‘Still Looking Up’, a self-published autobiography, was released for print in October 2012. Since then this critically acclaimed freshman publication has made its way to be published as an e-book on Amazon. This easy read is a compelling story about a young man whose life was changed at the age of 20 after an accident claimed his ability to walk but not his will to live.
Since the publication of this important book Fred has been a sought after speaker. He’s appeared at numerous events as a featured speaker including the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital and the Coordinating Center. The National Rehabilitation Hospital, located in Washington, DC is a top ranked hospital for medical rehabilitation in America. The Coordinating Center, located just outside of Baltimore, MD, supports families, children, and adults with special health care needs and disabilities.
Mr. Gordon has been hosted by Howard Hancock of S.L.A.M. to speak, and to travel locally and be featured as a spoken word poet at several venues. In addition to being a featured speaker, Mr. Gordon has been interviewed by several bloggers including John H. Byk, owner of 2012 Writers Alive. The event hosts and blog writers are convinced that Fred’s story will inspire others to move past their perceived limitations and live an uncommon life.
Mr. Gordon had this to say about his life and book. ‘Coming up on 22 years since the accident, my life has been blessed in countless ways. I knew I was destined to do something bigger than myself and writing this book was definitely bigger than anything I’ve done to date. It’s honest, not pretentious, and confronts life head on and has allowed me to heal.’ With the support of family and friends he hopes to begin work on his second book this summer.
