Young people have such great ideas and are constantly looking for mentors to encourage them and help them realize their overall potential

On May 10, Empire Digital Products CEO Scott Brodsky commends the latest group of adolescents who were chosen for the highly competitive 2013 Youth Entrepreneurship Academy.

According to Houston Forward Times, the Texas Business Alliance just kicked off their 2013 Youth Entrepreneurship Academy (YEA) program, a high-level entrepreneurial training program. The latest group of selectees was chosen from a pool of nearly 100 applicants.

According to the article, “YEA equips high school and college students, typically between the ages of 14 to 19, with the tools and resources to pursue an entrepreneurial alternative. Youth get a hands-on, dynamic experience of the fundamentals of business ownership and mentorship.” The program was developed by Jeffrey L. Boney because he felt as though programs like YEA give students “hope and belief within themselves that their ideas matter and that their opportunities are limitless.”

“Young people have such great ideas and are constantly looking for mentors to encourage them and help them realize their overall potential,” says Boney. “I truly wish that I had a program like this when I was growing up and that there were people that invested the type of time and resources into helping me become a successful person in life. With the help of our partners and volunteers, we are accomplishing our goal of equipping young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to turn their business idea into a business reality.”

The program is currently in its fourth year. According to the article, statistics show that an unacceptable number of U.S. students in underserved communities fail to develop the academic, social and citizenship skills necessary to compete and succeed in today’s economy.

Empire Digital Products CEO, Scott Brodsky, congratulates the latest group of students who were chosen to participate in the program. “As an entrepreneur myself, I’m happy to see that today’s young adolescents are taking the initiative to get the skills that will make them successful. They are the future of tomorrow and it is comforting to know that they are embracing a program like YEA to get them to where they want to be.”
