Foster City, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2013

OnlineColleges.com, a resource for students taking online education courses, is hosting the “View From My Classroom” contest this month. The contest is designed to showcase the lifestyles of the more than 6 million online students in the U.S. From May 13, 2013 to May 27, 2013, the site encourages students to share both about where they learn and their inspiration for pursuing an online education.

The number of students enrolling in online courses continues to increase as technology and telecommuting rapidly evolves. Participation in online courses has increased steadily, with 6.7 million students taking at least one online course, according to the Sloan Consortium. Course flexibility, coupled with non-campus learning environments offers students new opportunities to complete a college education.

“A lot of students don’t have the flexibility to complete an on-campus education,” explained Brendon Rowe, spokesperson for OnlineColleges.com. “They are balancing work, family and many other factors while they pursue their degree.”

Students may submit a photo of where they learn outside of the traditional classroom along with six words describing why or how they decided to choose an online degree program. Photos can be submitted on the OnlineColleges.com Facebook page, through Instagram, or on Twitter using the hashtag #myclassroom. Contest winners are determined by fan voting and each submission has the chance to win a prize, including $500, $300 and $150 Visa gift cards.

“At OnlineColleges.com, we value all of the work students put into their education,” continued Rowe. “It’s not always easy, but it will likely be worth it in the long run.”

To view the entries and vote or enter the contest, please visit the contest homepage at OnlineColleges.com and follow on Facebook and @OnlineColleges on Twitter and Instagram.
