AMHERST. NY — Citel Technologies, Inc., is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Release 6.01.0 for its Portico™ TVA™. After successful field testing over the past number of months, the new features, meeting numerous requests from customers, have been incorporated into this latest firmware upgrade. The Central Office functionality is now fully incorporated into the firmware along with numerous other enhancements Citel’s Engineering team has been working on for a number of months. Further releases encompassing a number of additional features are anticipated later in 2013.
The Portico™ TVA™ offers companies the ability to migrate their customers to VoIP without the unnecessary burden of ripping and replacing existing cabling infrastructure, purchasing new IP phones and installing Power over Ethernet switches. Customers can retain their existing digital, analog and Centrex phones without removing the existing switches by SIP enabling those phones through the use of the Portico™ TVA™. Now with the Central Office version of the device, units can be installed in Central Offices rather than on premise further reducing the impact on the end user.
Andrew Davies, Development Manager, said these latest improvements such as the SIP signaling enhancements have required some detailed discussions and testing with customers to ensure the requested upgrades provided the service levels required with a minimal of impact to the current operations of the units already in the field. In one instance, the Shared Call Appearance had been upgraded by the IP telephony platform manufacturer and for the first time in more than four years required some fine tuning to the TVA firmware to maintain full interoperability.
