Facebook advertising was a way to entice people to visit brand pages. A single ‘like’ may show that a consumer appreciates the business, but it is not guaranteed that they will interact with the profile and spread the word.

On May 12, social media agency fishbat responds to an article detailing Facebook’s new video advertising feature, which is set to launch in July.
According to the article published by the Drum, powerful brands such as Unilever, American Express, and Coca-Cola will be taking part in the trial run of Facebook’s new video advertising product. The ads will run approximately 15 seconds long and will start playing automatically on the social networking website. The advertisements will only play once per day at the beginning of the campaign, and users will have the option to play with or without sound.
Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at social media agency fishbat, says video marketing ads have the potential to help companies reach their target audiences faster than ever before.
“Facebook advertising was a way to entice people to visit brand pages. A single ‘like’ may show that a consumer appreciates the business, but it is not guaranteed that they will interact with the profile and spread the word. Instead of plain text, Facebook users will now be more exposed to products because of the video ads. These ads will pop up automatically on your newsfeed so consumers are exposed to the brand without having to visit their Facebook page.”
Maas says People are also more likely to pay attention to a video than if they see a static advertisement on the side of the page. “This could be great for brands because it will encourage people to keep watching and engaging.”
The article says other notable Facebook advertising updates made this year include Lookalike Audiences, Managed Custom Audiences, and Partner Categories.
