My heart told me I needed to do something positive to help others fight against heroin. This music video is my answer and prayer for my pain and to help others with their pain.

How do you deal with the loss of a friend from the scourge of heroin and then watch another friend suffer with his addiction? For singer-songwriter Kady Bow, the answer is a music video to debut on Monday, May 13th at Scalo Northern Italian Grill, 3500 Central Ave. SE in Albuquerque at 7:00 pm to benefit the Youth Matters Foundation, dedicated to youth addiction prevention and treatment. The music video, “Heart of Steele,” tells the story of Kady’s friend, who struggles with heroin addiction.
The event will also honor Kady’s friend, Haley Paternoster, who died from a heroin overdose in 2010. Haley Paternoster’s father, Steve Paternoster, founded Youth Matters Foundation in Haley’s honor and also owns Scalo Northern Italian Grill.
“Losing my friend, Haley and then having to watch another friend in the grips of his addiction filled me with sadness and anger,” says Kady Bow. “My heart told me I needed to do something positive to help others fight against heroin. This music video is my answer and prayer for my pain and to help others with their pain.”
“Helping youth avoid and overcome addiction ensures that Haley’s life continues to have meaning,” said Steve Paternoster. “I am honored to have someone that was a true friend to my daughter feel moved to help the cause of the Youth Matters Foundation in such a positive and heartfelt way.”
Voluntary contributions to Youth Matters Foundation can be made at the event. In addition to the presentation of “Heart of Steele,” Kady and Casper L. Gomez will also be performing a full set of songs that feature Kady’s sultry jazz voice and emotion filled lyrics at the benefit event.
