What started as a simple camp for children with cancer uncovered a need for camps for teenagers, families and long-term survivors, as well as a robust Arts and Creative Writing Program. - The Periwinkle Foundation
Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 13, 2013
Throughout the month of May, Bounce Energy is raising awareness and funds for The Periwinkle Foundation, a leading player in improving the lives of children and families affected by pediatric cancer. The Houston-based electricity company will donate $2,500 to the organization, as well as 50 cents for every new “Like” the company receives on Facebook in May.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2013, The Periwinkle Foundation seeks to connect young children and adolescents battling cancer with the treatment they desperately need. The organization also understands that these young people and their families need additional care and support to relieve the emotional and psychological complications that arise from the life-changing diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
According to the foundation website, “The Periwinkle Foundation develops and provides programs that positively change the lives of children, young adults and families who are challenged by cancer and other life threatening illnesses. As the cancer survival rate grows, so does the need for long-term support and programs. What started as a simple camp for children with cancer uncovered a need for camps for teenagers, families and long-term survivors, as well as a robust Arts and Creative Writing Program.”
Even though a vast majority of children diagnosed with cancer do survive these days because of modern medical advancements, The Periwinkle Foundation still needs help in serving, supporting, and developing programs to aid the many children and families affected by cancer. Bounce Energy hopes to assist in these efforts by bringing attention to the mission of this important non-profit organization.
